Some details from Viggle about rewards, acccounts and tax implications:

1. Question by Viggle Boy: When does Viggle send 1099 or ask for social security number from users? Is it based on points earned or rewards redeemed value?

Answer by Viggle Support: We will request that Vigglers complete a W-9 once they have redeemed $550 in rewards in a calendar year. It is based off of the retail value of the reward at the time it was redeemed. If a user chooses not to complete the W-9, the account will be banned, which means only that they are prevented from redeeming but can still use Viggle.

2. Question by Viggle Boy: Is the addition of retail value of rewards mentioned during redemption used to calculate total amount redeemed from the app for a year?
Answer by Viggle Support: Yes, but music, TV shows, movies and eBooks are calculated differently.
3. Question by Viggle Boy: If so, the retail value of most rewards mentioned is a little higher than market price for items. Isn't there a lower value considered for them while calculating earned rewards total?
Answer by Viggle Support: No, our rewards team uses the retail price provided by our fulfillment center. Market value is not relevant in this calculation.

4. Question by Viggle Boy: How can one get the total value of all rewards redeemed so far? It does not show the value of products in rewards history? Can users send an email to Viggle support and get the current redeemed value for this year?
Answer by Viggle Support: Yes, users have been doing that but it would be an approximate calculation as Support does not have a list of retail prices for every reward.

5. Question by Viggle Boy: How many people can hold accounts for the same address? Their common concern about address is, is it ok to have same address across multiple accounts, or does it violate any Viggle policy which can lead to termination of their accounts?
Answer by Viggle Support: A DirectTV account can have 4 Viggle accounts in the same household linked to it. The same mobile number can be used for up to 5 household accounts. 5 would be the limit. However, if the accounts are flagged because of identical or very similar activity, they would be deactivated until it can be proven that each account belongs to a different individual.

6. Question by Viggle Boy: Is Viggle moving towards getting rid of products and gift cards completely and only supporting media and rewards pay redemption's? People are worried and want to know so that they can decide if they should accumulate points for bigger things or use them all for whatever they can get, before all options are gone.
Answer by Viggle Support: Products will remain in the Rewards catalog. Gift cards are no longer our rewards focus, but I am not aware of any plans to remove them entirely. The digital rewards will continue to expand in scope.

  1. Thank for those questions you asked Viggle. I thought the w'9 would go out at $600.00. Good to know that Viggle triggers it at $550.00.

    Thank you

    1. You're most welcome Mark. I had the exact same feeling about W-9 going out at $600. Its good to know the threshold so that Vigglers can plan ahead, estimate tax implications and stop redeeming at some appropriate point. For those who are not comfortable sharing your Social Security Number with Viggle, I would recommend stop redeeming around $500.

  3. After the recent update, is there still a way to play viggle live for two shows at the same time? Now that viggle live is full screen it seems to limit this ability. Thanks!
